Molly Moore, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist in Texas
Hi, I’m Molly. I’m a plant person, a lover of books and Bravo, and I feel my most authentic self when hiking in Colorado with my partner. I used to be extremely Type-A, but now consider myself to be “Type-B with Type-A tendencies.” I want to “go with the flow” but also have a plan. I love Post-it notes and use them more than my planner. I consider myself extroverted but have found that quiet time leaves me feeling restored. In another life, if I wasn’t a psychologist, I would probably be a florist or a tornado chaser—extremes, I know.
Like my clients, I have struggled with doubting myself, prioritizing my needs, and feeling my emotions. I used to be filled with thoughts of self-doubt and when emotions would pop up, I was great at finding other ways to cope instead of feeling them—nothing like writing a 20-page research paper rather than feeling your emotions (ha!). So I get it. I’ve been there. However through therapy, I was able to learn how to work with the parts of me that wanted to avoid emotions and doubted my abilities so that fear no longer kept me stuck.
If you are ready to leave self-doubt, anxiety, and burnout behind but need a plan to do it- reach out to see if we might be a good fit!
Work with a Therapist who Gets It
I’m a therapist who gets it. I love working with high-achieving women who experience anxiety, imposter syndrome, and burnout because I’ve been there. I get it on a level that only those who have gone through it know. Racing thoughts used to keep me up at night. Self-doubt and imposter syndrome overwhelmed me in my 20’s and burnout used to be my natural state. I found my way out and with my personal experience and professional expertise, I can help you through it, too.
Below is an interview where I talk about my experience of feeling anxious, burned out, and full of self-doubt and how I’ve learned to redefine success.
My Approach to Therapy
I’m not your stereotypical smile-and-nod therapist. I’m pretty active in session and you won’t have to guess what I’m thinking because my face will likely show it. You can expect me to be direct, with a touch of humor. Because I personally and professionally know what it takes to manage burnout and self-doubt, I’m able to be in the trenches with you. However, I won’t work harder than you. I can’t do the work for you but I know you can do it because you are already used to working hard. In therapy with me, you do not have to “perform” or “get it right.” All parts of you are welcome, not just the driven and successful parts of you.
I know how vulnerable it is to be on the other side of the couch, and I admire my clients' courage in choosing to come into therapy and focus on their needs. It’s a huge commitment for my clients who already feel like they don’t have enough time and don’t want others to know they struggle. We will go at your pace. All you need to do is show up and be ready to work, even if it feels scary. You can do hard things!
Why Work with Me
I have an extensive background working with high-achieving women. From graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees, law school, and medical school to working moms juggling the demands of motherhood and work, I help women who feel exhausted and doubt themselves despite their success. I know the unique experiences of being a career-driven woman in a society that demands more of you and reinforces overcommitment. I get it.
Before private practice, my career was in higher education working at several universities across the Southeast and Midwest. I have co-led therapy groups for graduate students and most of my clients have been women pursuing advanced degrees. The extrovert part of me has loved giving large-scale presentations on managing burnout and coping with stress. In addition to providing therapy, I have a background in wellness and bring this into my work with my clients by examining how you are doing in all areas of your life, not just work. Basically, I love what I do and I’m pretty damn good at it.
