They tend to push their emotions down or “bottle them up” so they don’t feel even more overwhelmed. They tend to be the “strong one” that others turn to for support and fear being “weak” if they felt their emotions.
My clients have difficulty saying no, regularly taking on too many tasks in their lives out of fear of disappointing others. They’re overcommitted and have trouble delegating because they believe they have to do it to get it done right.
Their relentless self-criticism gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the friend, mom, or partner they want to be and their confidence in themselves is tanking.
A part of them wants life to slow down but another part worries they won’t be as productive.
They know that something needs to change but are unsure where to start.
Before they came to see me, they tried to self-care their way out of feeling this way. They went to yoga, read Brene Brown, and listened to podcasts. They even tried therapy before but it wasn’t a good fit. Overwhelm was taking over.
